About Dr. Kai Mazur

Dr. Kai Mazur specializes in treatment of disorders of the hand, elbow, and shoulder. As a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Mazur holds additional certification in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, has been elected to the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Mazur completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) where his interest in hand and microsurgery began. He published several peer-reviewed research papers and presented his findings at national meetings. His experience at USC/Los Angeles County Hospital includes providing care during the L.A. riots and the aftermath of the Northridge Quake, and serving as Orthopedic Trauma Chief managing a team of Orthopedic Surgeons caring for victims of inner-city violence. Dr. Mazur pursued further training in Hand and Upper-Extremity Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He became certified in Microvascular Surgery and performed upper-limb reimplantation and reattachment surgeries. Dr. Mazur has been in private practice since 1996 and is considered one of Northern California’s leading experts in Hand and Upper-Extremity surgeries.

Dr. Mazur has been in private practice in Santa Rosa since 1999 and is considered one of Northern California’s leading experts in Hand and Upper-Extremity surgeries. Dr. Mazur’s practice not only specializes in the treatment of common hand and upper-extremity disorders, but also complex acute trauma reconstruction, posttraumatic reconstruction, treatment of sports and degenerative disorders of the upper extremity, Biologics including PRP injections and complex wrist and elbow reconstruction. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Mazur serves as the Senior Trauma Consultant at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital (Level 2 Trauma Center) treating severe hand, wrist and elbow injuries, as well as traumatic injuries to peripheral nerves.

Dr. Mazur performs the latest techniques in upper-extremity joint arthroplasty/replacement, advanced arthroscopic reconstruction, ligament reconstruction of the upper extremity, tendon repair, vascularized bone grafting, peripheral nerve surgery and microsurgery.

Dr. Mazur also provides leading-edge treatment for cumulative trauma disorders and performs minimally invasive surgeries for carpal tunnel syndrome and other overuse disorders.

Dr. Mazur believes in giving each patient state-of-the-art medical care in a friendly and compassionate environment.

His expertise in treatment not only focuses on diagnostics and meticulous surgical details, but also on post surgery rehabilitation and recovery. His dedicated personal approach to patient care and his insistence to go the extra mile enable him to work closely with each patient to achieve the highest level of function and recovery. Dr. Mazur’s passion for improving patient care has led him to develop new techniques for the treatment of injuries to the wrist, hand and upper extremities.

He currently holds provisional U.S. medical device and surgical technique patents. He worked as the Chief Medical Director of Sonoma Orthopedic Products, a Sonoma County-based orthopedic surgical device company which is now part of a large East Coast Biotechnology company.

Dr Mazur has also served on the Santa Rosa Surgery and Endoscopy Center Governing Board since 2004. The Surgery Center since has been designated as the #1 surgery Center in California and cited as top 40 Surgery Center in the US by Newsweek.

Jennifer

As a professional and skilled extension of Dr. Mazur, Jennifer brings a multi-boarded, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. She brings strong evaluation and treatment skills developed over the years as an Occupational Therapist, a Certified Hand Therapist and as a Physician Assistant. She has been collaborating with Dr. Mazur as a Physician Assistant in the care of the hand injured patient since 2011. Prior to that she collaborated with Dr, Mazur as a Certified Hand Therapist dating back to 1990.

Jennifer obtained her degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State in 1982 and started treating hand injured patients from her very first position in San Jose. She was elected to the American Association of Hand Therapist in 1986, and became a Nationally Certified Hand Therapist after passing the first qualifying examination in 1990. Following her quest for knowledge, she attended and graduated from Stanford Primary Care Associate Program in 1994. After spending time in Occupational Health and Family Practice, she returned to her primary interest in Orthopedic Hand Surgery with Dr. Mazur where she remains to this day.

When not busy with work, Jennifer is an avid Home Improvement DIY’er, furniture refinished, and is learning all about gardening. She loves hiking, traveling with her son Jaxon, long walks with her Beagle Molly, and recently dabbling in TaiChi and geriatric HipHop!
